KONA MAUKA
Hawaiʻi Island
A multigenerational residence in Kona Mauka, designed for a family whose connection to the islands runs long. The homeowners met at maritime school and later lived on a working coffee farm in Hōlualoa, arriving with a clear regard for place, history, and the restraint of midcentury modern design.

That sensibility set the approach. Rather than reinventing the house, the work deepened what was already there, bringing it into closer conversation with its place.
The clients took an active part in sourcing, gathering Hawaiian objects, both local and historic, that were placed throughout the interiors as the home took shape. The result holds midcentury clarity alongside cultural depth: collected rather than curated, scholarly yet warm, and inseparable from its setting.
